Adoptions Pending  /  Test Drives

The adoptions pending/test drive page is for our dogs who are currently on a trial run with a potential adopter (lengths of test drives vary based on health, age or adopters needing more time to decide). The majority of these dogs will end up adopted; but a few may not be the right fit. This could be for any reason and is mainly not for any type of aggressive behavior or major problem. You can continue to check this page to see if one of your interests have been adopted or you can email us to inquire about any of these dogs.

Oakley

Hello, my name is Oakley and I am about a year old and full of energy. I am full of love and love to play. I am a little on the shy side but once I get to know you we will become best friends. I do well with other dogs and kids. I love to go on walks but I need a little help on the leash. I would love a family to love me and call me their own. Esther

I am a 4 year old female that gets along well with all other dogs and I love to play in the sprinklers. I love toys and I am wonderful with kids. I also walk well on a leash and I am very smart. Flash

What's up? I was picked up by someone caring and concerned and called Jumping Jack. For a while I was fostered with a bunch of boxers and got along great! But now my foster dad thinks my name should be Flash. I am a young (under a year) flashy, brindle who gets along with all my foster siblings; runs around the backyard after walking for an hour or more every morning; does not really care when cats run amuck in front of us while out; and, loves everyone (both big and little people). Libby

Well we have a new girl called Libby. She's a very small female Boxer in the 45lbs. class. Fawn with a black mask, nice flash on her chest. She plays well with our pack, after 30 seconds they were all off for a walk around the fence line without an issue. She is a house dog, eating better today than yesterday. Sleeps on a dog bed pillow, didn't have any problems in the house all night. She's about 4 1/2 - 5 years old. Like I had said before she's had pups 6-8 months ago. One very happy little girl. Rio

Howdy! My name is Rio. I am a high energy one year old adolescent male. My owner decided he didn't want to take me with him to another city. I am so excited to get out of the Valencia County Shelter and into my new forever home. My foster Dad is planning to get me neutered soon and then I'll be ready to go. I have been going non-stop since coming home from the shelter and I'm finally relaxing on some blankets. Hailey

Hello there! My name is Hailey. I just arrived (7/20) from Artesia where I was surrendered by my owner to the local shelter. I am a little shy around people but I am currently hanging out with Rio and Pancho in my foster home. I will need to be spayed and expect to get an appointment with the clinic next week. Macy

Hi, I am Macy and I am only about 4 months old. I love playing with my other foster siblings and getting used to being an indoor dog. Adoption Pending!

Peaches

This pretty girl is named Peaches. She is being fostered with 2 male boxers and another female without any problems at all. When the other dogs wrestle and play, she sits nicely on the couch and just watches them. She doesn’t jump on people and crates well once you get her in, but she will need a little work on her potty training. She came very underweight so we are focusing on plumping her up and making her stronger. She is a really sweet girl who just wants to be hugged and to follow you around the house! Lucy

This is Lucy, she is about 3-1/2 or so. Lucy is a very happy playful girl and is very affectionate and loves to have her belly rubbed. She is one of our smaller girls. She gets along well with her Chihuahua friend and the Rottweiler pup that is currently living there. She is very good with children and lets the 1 year old do just about anything to her with no objections. Adoption pending!

Stella

This is Stella. She is a 1 1/2 year old boxer who is now here in Albuquerque. She gets along great with her other fosters and would like to find her forever home now that she's here in Albuquerque. Adoption pending!

Precious

Well, you can probably determine why I am called Precious. I am a 12 week old female who was left behind in the city and was found by some very nice people. I am currently living in a foster home but they plan on finalizing everything once I am ready to be adopted. However, we always encourage you to complete an application. Adoption pending!

Tyra

Hello, I am Tyra, about 2 to 3 years old, and I just came up from Hobbs. There isn't a whole lot of information about me but I am a little shy at first; have had no problem with other dogs; and, I like kids! Ling Ling

Ling Ling has lived with a Chihuahua mix and a Lab at the same time and they all got along fine. They played indoors and out, ran the perimeter of our back yard, played with toys, ate their food at the same time. Ling Ling lives in a house with a Mom and daughter. She usually barks at strangers at the front door, but settles down after she sees that no one is in any harm. She likes all people, especially if they pet her and pay attention to her. Ling Ling has her own chair with a cover on it and a big dog bed. Ling Ling rides in the back seat with a cover on the bench. She also likes to get in the front passenger seat, but will get in the back upon command. Ling Ling is very good when she gets her shots. She does not bother other dogs and is very good with the vet. Ling Ling is currently on a test drive!

Teddy

This little guy is about 40 pounds we think he is about 18 to 24 months old. He looks like a little teddy bear and thinks he is a lap dog. He gets along with Smokey, Roxy and Cleo great. He is being crated for the first time and isn't too happy, but not acting too badly. He can see the other dogs in their crates, but Buddy is out and he thinks he should be too. He is fully mature and playful in a more restrained fashion. He loves nothing better than getting petted and scratched on his hip. Smokey

This is Smokey, he was an owner surrender claiming deployment. He will be 1 year old 5/22/10. He is a tall boy and very skinny with lots of scars and patches of hair missing. We are hoping with some love and care he will put on some weight and heal more. He is a sweetie and a lover. He knows sit and does ok on the leash. He is high energy and will need an active buddy. He is a very wiggly boy and does donut dog all the time. He gets along with all the foster dogs here young, old, male and female. Murray

This is Murray, he is a young male 1-1/2 to 2 we think, he is a happy boy and wants to be petted and scratched on his hip. He loves to nibble on you and play with your feet. Aspen

Hello, this is Aspen. She is a 3-1/2 year old female that is being housed in Las Cruces but needs a new home. Her owner can no longer keep her due to her work schedule. She is in a yard with 3 other boxes and gets along just fine but she is a little shy and needs a place of her own. She is lovable, affectionate and great with children. She loves to shake hands and sit close to you…loves the attention. She is a fast learner and already knows how to stay, sit, and walk on a leash with no problem. Aspen now known as Blanca has been adopted!

Cleo

Hi there, here is Cleo. She is maybe as much as a year old and weighs about 45 pounds. She is house trained as far as we can tell. She doesn't jump up. Very pretty girl. Daisey D

Daisey D is an owner surrender because she was digging, the poor girl had no shelter or much shade, and it has been 90 or more degrees, of course she was trying to get cool! She had been very shy and quiet here, she is in the yard with Buddy and Aspen and they all get along fine. Daisey D is a smaller girl very sweet and gentle. I think she may be about 3 years old or so. By the way there has been no digging here! Daisey D is currently on a test drive with Patty & Wayne in Deming!

Dreamer

This big girl looks like she is mostly English Bulldog with long legs, she tall for a Bulldog and short for a boxer, she is stocky and deep chested, mellow and easy going. She was taken in with another one who looks like her daughter. When we took her out of the run for pictures she was uncertain of all that was happening. We need a kind soul to foster these girls. Boomer

This happy boy is called Boomer. He is so wiggly he can hardly stand still to get his picture taken. We finally got him to sit still when someone came down the hall to meet him. He is still in the shelter and needs a foster family to help him until we can find him a forever home. Mayberry

This is Mayberry, he is about 1-1/2 or so, very happy boy and ready to play he is getting anxious to have more playmates and go on walks. He is still in the shelter and we are looking for someone to be his foster family. Starry

This is the other English Bulldog/ Boxer girl she seems a bit younger than Dreamer, perhaps she is her daughter. She was even more shy and uncertain of all the chaos at the shelter. Both girls are sweet and calm and easygoing. It would be best for them if they could stay together to reassure each other. Onyx

Hi there, here is Onyx, he was a stray that I can’t believe no one came to claim. He is the most beautiful dark brindle. He is about 10-11 months old and knows sit and he is crate trained. He is almost house trained and he has already been neutered. He is a bundle of energy and he is the only one who can keep up with Brittany Sue a 4 month old boxer that runs every one else ragged. He is a great wiggle butt and bounces around and he loves to give kisses. Adoption Pending!

Pixie

This little girl is very petite and maybe 10 months old. She is very delicate and dainty and uncertain about all that has happened in the last 12 hours. All the dogs here are a lot bigger than her and she is a bit nervous, but wants to play with them. She's very affectionate and follows me through the house faithfully. She had a bit of a tummy upset yesterday, hopefully that was from the stress of coming here and meeting all the dogs. Holly

This is Holly, she is a little older and will be great for a family with small children or someone wanting a calmer companion. She is sweet and affectionate. She seems sad to be abandoned, but she can still get wiggly when you pay her some attention. She has been bailed out of the shelter and is currently on a test drive. Holly is currently on a test drive with Wendy and Lee!

Benny

He is at least 3 and maybe more. He knows sit. He is really smart and needs a thoughtful owner who is going to be able to keep him entertained so he doesn't go getting into trouble. Daisey Mae

She is 10-12 months. She is playful, but not too rambunctious, likes to run around and around and around the yard with the other dogs. Oreo

Hi guys, this is our black & white boxer. She looks like maybe a mix of Boston Terrier and boxer. She is rather small and frightened. Would love to get her out of the shelter, but have 8 already, so no room at home. Adoption Pending!
